INSIGHT '09 – Riding the new wave: Emergence of new Business Models

It appears as if there is rejuvenation of the economy. The mayhem caused by the global meltdown during the last two years has left an indelible mark on the course of future. With signs of an impending economic recovery, the future belongs to those who embrace change wholeheartedly. While the future holds much promise, the road to that future is different: new business models have emerged, whereas the old ones have changed significantly. Ineffective business models have been quickly consigned to history.

There are newer and more astute frameworks for creating economic, social, and/or other forms of value. The core aspects of a business, including purpose, offerings, strategies, infrastructure, organizational structure, technologies employed, trading practices, and operational processes and policies have all changed subtly in some cases and starkly in others*. This year, the theme focuses on new, interesting business models that have emerged recently, as well as traditional models that have adapted to changes in the business environment.

Insight ’09 is set to debate on what new innovations and adaptations will thrive in the next decade, and which ones will wither away. Which old ones were forcibly changed to adapt to the rules of the new world? Which ones are dead, in spite of a willingness to change, made irrelevant by the march of a new era?

The tracks for Insight ’09 are:
  Manufacturing
  IT
  Social Entrepreneurship
  Telecom
  FMCG
Revisiting the Digital Strategy: Internet, Mobile and SMM
