New Frontiers in the changing BUSINESS landscape

Glaciers in the Artic are melting; Amazon forests are disappearing; natural resources are depleting; many species of flora and fauna are becoming extinct. That is one side of the landscape.

Sea is being reclaimed; Islands are being made by filling mud; New species are created using genetics; Waste is resourcefully recycled. This is the other side of the landscape – the landscape that creates the new frontiers, and which has pushed the horizon farther and further.

Yes, the above describes the changing nature of the natural land, the land made by God, the land we inherited, in short the changing landscape. As civilization constantly embraces modernization, the questions are, are we better off today than yesterday and will be better off tomorrow than today? That may sound philosophical, but they are resonating across the globe constantly.

The same questions also resonate in the business environs perpetually. Be they family businesses or public companies or private enterprises, the questions are same - why are we not better off today than yesterday and what should we do to create the best tomorrow ever?

As the world's physical landscape changes and is being changed, the business landscape also is changing continuously due to forced modernization, market driven globalization, fierce competition, and customer driven customization.

Financial austerity, Personalized advertising and marketing, carefully monitored operations, proliferation of information systems in every arena and three-generation (Baby boom, Gen X and Gen Y) workforce characterize the business landscape today.

What should businesses do in these volatile times and changing climates?

Will the business landscape be transformed into a lush green lawn (meaning high profits and booming times) or barren land with a few oases (meaning a few industries do well while others struggle)?

Insight 2014 will serve as a forum for business leaders to share their insights and practices on how they are running their businesses and also how they are preparing for the tomorrows. We invite you to be a part of this forum that will truly be a delight for the inquisitive minds and aspiring managers.

Sincerely
