Insight 2012 “Salmons in business, going upstream”
November 16, 2012, Chennai

The seventh edition of LIBA - Insight focuses on companies which achieved amazing growth even in a grim economic scenario. Like salmons that migrate from the tiniest of rivers into the ocean fighting the strong currents and obstacles in the river, there are companies which in spite of global downturn have managed to post robust growth and have also maintained employee satisfaction. We would like to hear the herculean efforts put in for the tremendous performance by the companies to sustain in the midst of all chaos. Just like the salmons’ journey upstream, the journey of the companies to keep the employees satisfied to reach their target during tough times would be worth inspiring to budding business executives.

LIBA Insight’12 symposium will deliberate on how specific organisations sustained in the perilous economic conditions of the 21st century and successfully navigated through the ups and downs of the economy. The practices of these organisations which led to success even when the global economy was in utter darkness, created a powerful competitive and sustainable advantage against their rivals. It’s known to us that a recession can do far more damage than any of the ten toughest competitors. We want to hear the success stories from the companies who survived and thrived in the risky conditions of business. The painful lessons learnt, would be highly insightful to handle recessionary turning points. The skills to predict economic cycles and to apply strategies to manage are the key points to become world-superior in financial performance.

Google maintained employee satisfaction even when the entire global market was dwindling. The struggle put in, indeed fructify by gaining trust from employees which propelled profits. Lenevo maintained strong profitability and overall performance due to ‘right strategy and great execution’. Each successful organisation has a specific story to tell in this context.

Steve Jobs said “A lot of companies have chosen to downsize, and maybe that was the right thing for them. We chose a different path”. The great giants in business who amidst storms did reach their goal by knowledge of economic cycles with ethics intact, for them success is destined!
